The ballots have been counted: 260 community health workers at Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center in Los Angeles recently voted overwhelmingly to join SEIU 721.
“I’m excited that we chose to join SEIU 721. This vote will make us stronger and get us ready to embrace the future. Way to go, Gateways!” –Fran Allison, Social Worker, Gateways Hospital
Gateways Hospital health workers were previously members of SEIU United Healthcare Workers-West. They voted to transition to SEIU 721 because it is the leader in the public health industry in Southern California.
“We’re public health care workers, so it just made sense to go with SEIU 721–the union that specializes in public health care.” –Mel Robinson, Professional Counselor, Gateways Hospital
