After months of negotiations, SEIU 721 members and the County of Ventura have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract which, if approved, would cover employees through December 1, 2012.

“In times like these, this contract keeps vital services intact and allows workers to focus on serving the public for the next 21 months. That is why your bargaining committee is recommending a yes vote on this contract.”

-AC Carbajal, Bargaining Committee Chair

Working through a state mediator, the bargaining committee was able to get the County to drop its demand to eliminate all Human Services Agency (HSA) caseload/workload protections from the collective bargaining agreement, among other takeaways. HSA workers attended the March 8 Board of Supervisors meeting to show support for the agreement.

Voting and Ballots:

SEIU bargaining committee members and worksite organizers will hold worksite meetings to review the tentative agreement and answer questions.

A full tentative agreement, along with a ratification ballot, will be mailed to all SEIU 721 members on March 16.  Ballots must be received at the Ventura SEIU 721 office by 5 p.m. on March 30.  If you are an SEIU 721 member but have not received your ballot by March 22, please call (805) 650-4420 to request a duplicate ballot.
