Every day scores of crime reports from the local police agencies within LA County are sent up to the District Attorney’s office for review. Once there, the DA makes a decision on each case; which crimes and whom to prosecute, to what degree, and which crimes and whom to ignore. As a society we take enormous pains to assure public input at every step of writing the laws we live by. But when it comes to enforcing these same laws, we put full power to prosecute or not in the hands of one person. Because of the importance of this race, SEIU721 will be hosting an endorsement town hall for the candidates for the LA District Attorney on May 8.
“Now when state realignment funds are coming to local counties we need to make sure that the
safety net services and programs we provide our communities are funded correctly, please attend this important town hall and make sure the incoming District Attorney knows that we care about all LA communities,” said James Harris, Crew Instructor for LA County Probation Department.
The town hall will be held on May 8 at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium at 1545 Wilshire Avenue in Los Angeles. Click here to rsvp.
