We are pleased to announce that the Joint DHS Labor-Management Review Committee gave Luminary Awards to several SEIU 721 members for projects that demonstrated exemplary labor/management partnership and overall improvements in quality of care
All the projects selected for implementation were recognized in a ceremony presided over by Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.

It’s wonderful to see 721 members getting outstanding recognition for their creativity and drive to improve care. The four projects recognized were:

Coastal Health Centers: Create a child and family friendly environment by installing wall decals in Pediatrics, as well as purchasing games for children. Team: Donna Nagaoka, Lillian Segura, Dorothy Lee Jung and Vanessa Garcia.

Harbor-UCLA: Provide feedback of hand hygiene adequacy to front line providers. Team: Loren G. Miller, Alma Belis, Nieves Galvez-Arrango, Jenifer Ramsay, and Ken Zangwill.

Mid Valley Comprehensive Health Center: Increase medication adherence through the use of pill organizers and small totes. Team: Lacey Wyatt, Maureen Mavrinac, Adelia Gutierrez, Irma Ortega, Jae Chon and Jane Chon.

Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Center: Establish a new program, Rancho Works Enterprises, which will enhance the current services offered in the Occupational Therapy Vocational Services by creating real-life work opportunities. Team: Denise Ha, Michele Berro, Lisa Deshaies, Rodel Reyes and Vern Roberts.

Since there were so many good ideas submitted, DHS is trying to find funding to move forward with additional projects.
