LA County Bargaining Is Turning It Up

It’s getting hot in here. LA County bargaining is turning up the heat in August. From Aug. 8 – 22, SEIU 721 members are taking their message to each Board of Supervisors’ field office.

The message is clear:

  • Fair Share from Corporations
  • Fair Pay for Workers
  • Fair Deal for Los Angeles County

It’s a simple message that makes a lot of sense, but members are repeating it over and over again to make sure they get heard.

Jason Ramirez.jpg“We want the County to stop contracting outside entities to do jobs we can do. We want Supervisor Molina to honor the deal we made for raises.” —Jason Ramirez, Ground Maintenance Worker II, Whittier Narrows.

Jay Johnson - Nurses.jpg“One of the most important things to do is to correct the public’s misconceptions that government employees are overpaid and over-compensated for benefits.” —Jay Johnson, Health Facility Evaluator Nurses, Arrowjet.

Members rallied outside the Board of Supervisor’s field office with chants and whistles and signed onto to the poster board that carried the message to be delivered to the Board Supervisor. Everyone felt empowered and unified as they heard that their voices had been listened to and that their message was going to be heard.
