The mass action at worksites from Lancaster to Compton sent a clear message to the Board of Supervisors: It’s time to negotiate seriously.

Bargaining Update

County management continues to reject our proposals to lift the living wage, reduce caseloads and workloads for social workers, provide RideShare subsidies, end the abuse of temporary workers and close loopholes that allow corporations to avoid paying property taxes.

-Ann Codron, Gain Services Worker, DPSS Chatsworth

Negotiators are offering a 2% per year pay increase, but they refuse to increase County contributions to our Options health benefit. That leaves us to pick up medical premium increases of more than $100 per month. In the end, that means the County is offering a pay cut for the vast majority of County employees.

Diana_Perez80.jpg“Most LA County workers make around $40,000. A 2% raise is nothing if we
have to pay more for our healthcare. The County is actually offering a
takeaway. ”
-Diana Perez, Pharmacy Technician, Twin Towers Jail

The County is not negotiating seriously with us. It’s time to show them we mean business.
