MOU 18 Ratifies Coalition Agreement

Los Angeles City traffic guards, detention officers and other sworn civilian officers voted to ratify the Coalition Agreement with the City of Los Angeles.
Ballots were counted on May 26 under the supervision of a state mediator. Members were also on hand to witness the tally.
Connie100.jpgAmong those who watched the vote was Detention Officer Connie Randle. After the final count was announced and certified, she said, “This is a big step forward for the members of this unit. Furloughs are over and now I have peace of mind knowing that I’ll be able to pay my mortgage and that my retirement medical benefits are secure. Way to go!”

  1. In 12 months we will be voting to raise our contributions another 4% to cover medical costs. So how is it secure? This contract will be reopened again soon. The signatures of these 450 or 600 are made up because they cant produce them. Its all about the dues.

  2. See what City Council does today(5/27/11), Fiscal Emergency on the Agenda. I guess a 6.5% pay cut won’t matter if you get laid off. Pay cut plus a furlough could happen though, if you read the LOA.

  3. Thats awesome! Finally some sanity! Now LAAS does not have to be divided up. We can provide services now uninterupted by furloughs. Great job everyone! Now if we could just get those RVTs away from EAA…

  4. We have learned that the detention officer’s MOU 18 ratified their amendment to their contract, 322 yes to 214 no. It is our opinion that they made the best decision that benefits all of their folks, at this time, just as, we made the best decision for our membership. We had work so hard to get off from furloughs and now will remain off of furloughs. More importantly, protecting our retiree medical benefits – and keeping more additional police officers from being deployed to work the jails.
