But Compton City workers have a plan. They’ve scrubbed the books and found efficiencies and other cost-saving measures that will allow Compton to balance its budget without laying off nearly 40 percent of the workforce.
Help the workers of Compton get their budget passed by attending a rally outside the city council chambers on Tuesday, June 28.

The City of Compton’s budget shortfall is unlike most Cities across our nation. Most Cities are experiencing revenue reductions due to the nations overall financial situation.
But, Compton’s budget shortfall is the result of irresponsible spending practices over the past years. The employees are facing layoffs because without a budget being passed this year, instead of over the course of several years, it could implicate those involved with managing the cities funds.
We, the employess are unfortunate to have to face these times in Compton although we had nothing to do with the gross expeditures, and mis-management of budgetary practices.
The only way we can save the communitites within the City of Compton is to organize the clergymen, community organizations, community activist and the people to address the issues that have plague this city and brought this situation before us.
