On Oct. 24 and then on Nov. 9, hundreds of SEIU 721 LA City members came out to get information on the upcoming contract campaign. Stewards and workplace leaders from all departments attended.
City workers heard from President Bob Schoonover and Executive Board members Nady Maechling, Andy Morales, Edwina Chism, Simboa Wright and Charley Mims. Then, they participated in breakout sessions to discuss 2014 bargaining priorities. LA City contracts expire on June 30, 2014.
Members raised issues that impact their work, their families, their futures and their communities.
“I’m concerned about my contract and want to be involved in the process as much as possible. I haven’t ever been part of a contract campaign, so I came to the meeting to learn and get in on the ground floor of things.”
-Fidel Avila, LAX Window Cleaner
