“We’re Doing the Hard Work” says Art Mora

SEIU 721 member Art Mora, Public Works Maintenance Worker for the County of Ventura, spoke at the May 7, 2013 Board of Supervisors meeting. Art shares what he does at work and how the County of Ventura works because we do. The SEIU 721 County of Ventura Bargaining Committee is currently in negotiations with the County.

My name is Art Mora and on a personal note, I thank those responsible for keeping the Cross on the County Logo.

I work for Public Works Agency as a Public Works Maintenance Worker. I am also an active SEIU 721 member.


May Day March for Comprehensive Immigration Reform

Thousands showed up for the May 1 march for immigration reform and International Workers’ Day in downtown Los Angeles. SEIU 721 members, allies, and communities group took to the streets as immigration reform is being discussed in the United States Senate.


Members Recognized at Habitat for Humanity Event

On April 28, David Goldstein, Environment Research Analyst for the County of Ventura, and Shannon Abramovitch, Child Support Services Specialist for the County of Ventura, represented SEIU Local 721 at the “Volunteer Recognition Event” of Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County.


Immigration Reform Now!

SEIU 721 members and community will be marching on May 1 in support of comprehensive immigration reform and to celebrate International Workers Day. The March will start at 12: p.m. at Olympic and Broadway in Los Angeles and end at La Placita Overa.



Tri-Counties Members Stand in Solidarity During Bargaining

SEIU 721 County of Ventura members have held actions over the past several weeks in solidarity with the Bargaining Committee. The Bargaining Committee presented the last of its proposals on April 8 and will receive the County’s response on April 25.


SEIU 721 Members Donate to People for Community Improvement

On Wednesday, April 10, SEIU 721 members presented People for Community Improvement representatives a donation of $3,000. These funds will be used by People for Community Improvement to continue its mission of helping young people recognize their potential, while introducing positive ways of expressing their energy and giving back to the community.


One Thousand Honor Cesar Chavez and Stand Up for Immigration Reform

Over 20 SEIU 721 members and their families joined over 1,000 other community members, activists, families and organizations at the Cesar Chavez March for Immigration Reform march in Oxnard on March 24, carrying signs and banners that called for a clear and comprehensive immigration reform policy.


Cesar Chavez March for Immigration Reform – Tri-Counties

SEIU Local 721 members will be marching in the Cesar Chavez march for immigration reform in solidarity with other groups like the United Farm Workers on Sunday, March 24. With the immigration reform debate heating up, SEIU 721 can play an important role in helping to fix our broken immigration system.
