Inland Members – Community Hold Toy and Food Drive and Holiday Picnic
For past month, SEIU 721 Inland members gathered unwrapped toys and non-perishable food for this year’s Holiday Toy and Food Drive. On Saturday, Dec. 12, they came together at Bryant Park in Riverside, to celebrate and donate the goods to Olive Crest, a non-profit foster service organization. Members and leaders from RPOA and IBEW Local 47 also participated, making it one of the most successful Toy Drive to date.
Why I’m Fighting for Social and Economic Justice and You Should Too
My name is Barbara Hunter. I’m a single mom of two. I work for the City of Riverside and I am a proud union member of SEIU Local 721. I want to tell you why I support the National Fight for $15 and why I think we need it here in the Inland region and in Southern California.
I make just a little more than $15 an hour and it’s a struggle for me to make ends meet. Every week I have to make difficult choices about where to spend my hard earned money. The price of gas, milk, and healthcare – they all keep going up.
Inland Members Collect Toys-Food for Needy Families
As the sun peaked out under retreating storm clouds, the SEIU 721 City of Riverside chapter teamed up with Riverside County members, IBEW Local 47 and the Riverside Police Officers Association for a joint union canned food and toy drive that concluded with a fun Holiday Barbecue on Saturday, Dec. 13.
Riverside Customer Service Reps Stay Cool in the Heat
Having gone through a dry spring and hot summer, California is in the throngs of one of the worst droughts in recent history. Residents in Inland Southern California know all too well that, while water makes the desert green, it can also tax resources both financially and environmentally. SEIU 721 City of Riverside members at the Riverside Public Utilities’ Customer Service and 311 Call Centers know they have to be extra cool and professional when the mercury soars.
Riverside Community Health Fair Set for Feb. 22
